BEAUTY IN CHAOS’ “Out of Chaos Comes…”: remix album review

The BEAUTY IN CHAOS collective returns with it’s third full-length release, clocking in at nearly 100 minutes and 18 tracks. It’s all remixes of prior songs, though, rather than new material, which makes for maybe an overly long release.
There’s a lot of hype right now about Metallica’s “Blacklist,” 53 covers of songs from The Black Album by various artists. Given The Black Album is 30 years old and has had decades to influence and inspire, it makes a degree of sense that such a lengthy tribute might appear. But BIC have not yet had 30 years to grow such a solid reputation and legacy, leaving it a little bit harder to justify this second remix album in around two or three years.
It’s good, it’s listenable, but have the original songs entered the public consciousness and become so deeply entrenched there that listeners are begging for 100 minutes of remixes?
And just to remind us, BIC includes Kat Leon (Holy Wars), Simon Gallup (The Cure), Al Jourgensen (Ministry), Robin Zander (Cheap Trick), Pete Parada (The Offspring), dUg Pinnick (Kings X), ICE-T (Body Count), producer Tim Palmer, guitar icon Zakk Wylde, Ashton Nyte (The Awakening), Kevin Haskins (Bauhaus, Love & Rockets), Rolan Bolan, Michael Anthony (Van Halen), Michael Aston (Gene Loves Jezebel), Paul Wiley (Marilyn Manson), Michael Aston and Dirk Doucette (Gene Loves Jezebel), Pando (A Flock of Seagulls), Ummagma, Evi Vine, Johnny Indovina (Human Drama), Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson), Betsy Martin (Caterwaul / Purr Machine), Kevin Kipnis (Purr Machine) and KITTY LECTRO, Adrienne LeVey, and others.
