Demonic Sweaters’ “Can You Draw Me?”: album review

It’s a pretty accurate reflection of Demonic Sweaters interaction with his social media fan base that he ran a drawing competition asking fans if they could draw an odd pirate mannequin he’d photographed years ago in Florida. In answer to the question “Can you draw me,” many fans answered “Yes,” with a surprisingly varied, talented and imaginative set of submissions. The winning entry is the album cover for 2020’s 11 track 40 minute bass, guitar, electronic, synth and drum instrumental record “Can You Draw Me?”
In his own words, “2020 was a weird year to say the least, so what better way to finish off the year than with a really weird album?”
The album has a strange tension in the blend of mystery and suspense, elation and escape. Although it’s synth heavy, the guitars and the relentlessly inventive drumming give the electronic sound an organic heartbeat.
