Chrysta Bell’s “Feels Like Love”: album review

A little bit like Goldfrapp with a moody Twin Peaks Americana rockabilly band behind her, Chrysta Bell’s 2019 album “Feels Like Love” showcases how far her songwriting and singing style has developed, with touches of Kate Bush and Cocteau Twins among the echoes. The red vinyl is encased in a lushly designed cover and makes a sweet collector’s item, especially when signed “For Ronan, love Chrysta Bell.”

Honestly, though, there is no substitute for seeing this performed live, and I was lucky to be in the front row during her album release show in New York when she stormed the stage like a force of nature, erotic and beautiful, fearless and unstoppable.
