“Insomnia”: Film review

Veteran LA detectives Will Dormer (Al Pacino) and partner Hap Eckhard (Martin Donovan) are dispatched to ‘help out’ in a murder investigation in midnight sun Alaska, possibly as a way to lay low during a widening internal investigation into their department. As Dormer pursues suspect Walter Finch (Robin Williams) in the fog, perpetual sun, and deepening sleep deprivation, he begins to question his own ethics, perspectives, and motives, as casualties of justice past and presence begin to mount up around him.
Well paced and engaging, this thriller builds the tension nicely to the final revelations and climax.
