Justin Robert’s “Bass / jLooper”: Music review

Recorded using a bass guitar and a patch he created for Pure Data (a visual programming language developed by Miller Puckette in the 1990s for creating interactive computer music and multimedia works), “Bass / jLooper” was released in September of this year by Justin Robert. Justin Robert is in fact a pseudonym of musician Justin Wierbonski, who is also Demonic Sweaters and various other personae. It’s no surprise to me then that this release could have gone out and escaped my notice until now – just too much music coming out of that guy to keep up!
“Bass / jLooper” is introspective, moody and gradual, intricate without being overly busy, layers of looped bass and percussive digital noise.
