“The Hateful Eight”: Film review

It’s a well-told story with lots of crafty quippy dialogue, tension-building scenes and explosive releases, a glorious soundtrack, and some truly memorable touches (the repeated farcical scenes of arrivals hammering in planks to keep the cabin door closed with Tarantino’s insistence on dragging out every hammer blow; the snow-shoe black angel wings). It’s vintage Tarantino alright, with all the trappings of Tarantino’s beloved vintage movie inheritance.
But somehow the three hours of raw vitriol, rank hatred, brutal racist violence, and bloodthirsty need for vengeance turned my stomach.
