“Spotlight”: Film review

Familiarity with the despicable criminal antics of these self-appointed “Gatekeepers of Salvation” from growing up in Ireland and reading about the unraveling scandals there, and familiarity with some of the same grave abuses here in the US, still did not prevent me from boiling and simmering with growing rage as I watched how the Boston Globe forced its way doggedly through a wall of silence, complicity and avoidance in order to expose the truth about child-rape by priests in the Boston area and elsewhere.
“The Magdalene Sisters” and Steve Coogan’s “Philomena” take on some of the abuses of that specific church, but “Spotlight” is so much broader in scope.
Exceptional script, casting, acting, and shooting.
