Christopher Costabile’s “Grand Hotel Abyss”

The use of what sounds like an Ebow on guitar strings on Christopher Costabile’s “Grand Hotel Abyss” produces long drawn out plaintive vibrating notes that counterpoint with synth and vibe tones. The rising and falling notes and the tom drums strike at the pit of your stomach and evoke a yearning anxious mood. The introduction of organ on the third track ensures the album doesn’t go stale and stagnant, developing the album in directions along the lines of Air’s “Virgin Suicides” if the virgins stayed alive and began listening to, say, Mortiis.
A bargain at zero dollars from the Archive.org download site.
