Ikon’s “In the Shadow of the Angel”: Music review

Australian darkwave band Ikon’s 1994 debut album “In the Shadow of the Angel” was reissued in 2011 and I got my hands on it recently.
The bass hums and pummels, and guitars circle and hover, the synths swirl, while Ikon’s original singer Michael Carrodus has that dark brooding Ian Curtis and Tom Smith (Editors) baritone. This is heavily goth-influenced post-punk of the highest order.
The vinyl edition comes with a bonus CD, “Other side of the angel,” featuring remixes and alternate versions.
