Noveller’s “Glacial Glow”: Music review

Noveller’s “Glacial Glow”’s foray into melody goes further than the previous works I’ve heard. The opener, “Entering,” has that strange locomotive mystery of the Donnie Dark soundtrack while other tracks have a vibrant and glowing momentum that would not sound out of place in a playlist with Grizzly Bears, for example. Elsewhere on the album that sense of the disturbed, of the malignant, the vaguely threatening, ripples and lurks beneath the surface. Listening to Noveller in sequence from 2009’s “Red Rainbows” through to May 2011’s “Glacial Glow” you get a sense of a maturing and honing of the craft. Looking forward to hearing the most recent album next.
